I think the Glock is a fine pistol and the reliability can,t be denied. I have owned one and it never failed once. But I tried a Springfield XD and found it to have a much better trigger and shorter reset and the ergonomics of the grip fit my hand much better and I was able to shoot it better right away, than I ever did with the Glock. Also the Glock does not have a fully supported chamber like an XD, thus you cant,t use +P ammo in one or a catastrophic failure can result with injuries. Go to https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=115 it warns of this and said an aftermarket barrel must be used on a Glock if you plan to use there +P ammo. They make some of the hottest ammo available. Another thing I like on the XD is the grip safety and cocked striker feature and loaded chamber indicator which are all lacking on the Glock. I will probably cause allot of controversy with this post due to all the Glock owners out there and most think nothing is better. I owned both guns and did a side by side comparison and that is my personal opinion for what little it is worth.

Controversy? Nah, but I might disagree with you on a couple of points. 🙂

The Gen 3 & 4 Glocks do have a loaded chamber indicator – the extractor is designed to stick just enough so you have to do is move your index finger up a hair from where it rests on the slide to check. The are striker fired as well, so I don’t see what you’re trying to say there.

I don’t see the point in running the hottest ammo I can buy. A “normal” +P load is safe in a Glock all day long. If I was reloading using hot loads I would be concerned with used brass. A modern defense round does a good job without having to push a gun to it’s limit. I personally don’t believe in the mythical one shot stop. Statistics I’ve seen show an average of two to three shots to stop a threat irrespective of the caliber used. I can put more rounds on target faster shooting something with less recoil. If I want more power, I’ll just switch calibers.

For personal defense I don’t want to have to do anything but point it and pull the trigger. I wouldn’t mind if they’d added a grip safety, but I’ve no interest in anything I have to remember to do to get it to work.

Now feel is a completely personal thing. I have large hands and the Gen4 with the largest back-strap just feels right to me.

I agree with the no need for +p for personal defense. And I know there is no need to go 0-60 in 5 seconds or 155+ MPH but it is nice to know you could if you wanted too. Like my car or my XD with +P+. LOL You stated that you wanted to put several rounds on target very fast. that is the very reason I like the XD better. Much lighter and shorter trigger pull and much shorter reset of the trigger, that is one thing I noticed right away when I used to shoot my Glock 23 and XD-40 side by side. Have you ever fired an XD. The Glock is one of the finest pistols made but I just think the XD offers some advantages

Well, that would mean that all those poor armed robbers and denagred lunatics who bought their guns through the gun show loophole would have to leave their guns at home and get jobs like the cardboard credit card guys near the freeway.

Taking away people’s guns souhld not be allowed by any form of Government unless that person has been proven to be a criminal and a danger to the public. If they have been convicted of a violent crime involving guns then their gun could be taken and only in that case. The Government souhld not turn to this kind of thing. Taking your guns souhld be against the right to keep and bear arms. No Government souhld have any right to take your guns or any other property that belongs to law abiding citizen for any reason.
